Poet, professor, and performer Gary Dop founded the Randolph College MFA program. He is the author of the poetry collection Father, Child, Water (Red Hen Press), and his latest play, Deemocracy: An American Absurdity, was published by Rain Taxi. His honors include the Great Plains Emerging Writer Prize, a Pushcart Prize Special Mention, the Gillie A. Larew Distinguished Teaching Award, and Virginia’s Outstanding Faculty Award, the Commonwealth’s highest honor for faculty at its colleges and universities. A member of Sigma Tau Delta since his student days, Gary considers the organization one of the most meaningful and enduring affiliations in his professional life.
