Soline Holmes
Workshop Leader
Soline Holmes, librarian and Information Services Chair at Academy of the Sacred Heart, is president of the Louisiana Association of School Librarians and active in national library committees, including ALSC and USBBY. An award-winning advocate for intellectual freedom and children’s literature, she has published widely and presented at national conferences. Holmes received the Judith F. Krug Banned Books Week grant and participated in ALSC’s Bill Morris seminar and IMLS’s Online Ready program.
About the Author
Soline Holmes is a librarian and the Information Services Department Chair at Academy of the Sacred Heart. She is the president of the Louisiana Association of School Librarians, and she is serving as the Intellectual Freedom Committee liaison for the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table. She is also a member of ALSC’s Public Awareness and Advocacy committee, serves on the Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award committee for K-2, and is a Teaching with Primary Sources Network Mentor. She is currently serving as Chair of the USBBY Nominating Committee for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, and she has given presentations on graphic novels, maps, Primary Sources, Global Education, and Mother Goose and STEM at local and national conferences. Soline has authored several articles for “Children and Libraries” and co-authored a chapter in ALA’s “Mental Health and Children’s Literature: Evaluating, Curating, and Sharing Books with Children.” Soline is the proud recipient of a Judith F. Krug Banned Books Week grant, was honored to participate in ALSC’s Bill Morris seminar, and was a member of the second cohort for Online Ready: Designing Culturally Competent and Impactful K-12 Online Learning sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
