For English majors, the end of Paradise Lost almost perfectly encapsulates which scholarship opportunities are relevant: “The World was all before them, where to choose / Thir place of rest.” Whether graduate school, public service, international research, or teaching English abroad, English majors can “give to airy nothings a local habitation and a name,” to paraphrase Shakespeare. This workshop will introduce you to some of these possibilities, such as the variety of Fulbright programs and other opportunities.
Presenter: Dr. Uschi Appelt has been the Scholarship Advisor at Hanover College for twelve years. She is also Director of Study Abroad and an Assistant Professor in English specializing in Early Modern Studies.
